so. much. fail.
So, Baseball Saved Us opened on Friday.
We didn't have a great opening... which was a little sad, especially since we definitely had a second-show slump. The show overall is pretty good. They do use some Japanese words, all of which nobody can pronounce. But, other than that, it's not half-bad.
We did light check and everything was fine, even the lights that had been a bit of a problem for us in the past. I went about setting props and doing my other usual preshow stuff. Then I went back up to the booth and put us in preshow light cue. But something was odd.... looking at the monitor, all light intensities were at zero. I contacted the stage manager on headset and asked if there were any lights on stage. There weren't. I checked all the other cues in the show. Every single one had light intensities at zero.
Panic.
Chaos.
Reboot.
Nothing worked. We finally got it to show the correct intensities on the monitor, but we still had no light on stage. We decided to put the show on anyway, just with no light cues and blackouts. We used the house and work lights. Since my usual job was not available, I was put to the task of trying to find the manual for the light board. I couldn't find a hard copy, but I found a computer with which to google the manual. I found it and handwrote down all the chapters and subchapters. It was no help. I continued googling stuff until the show was over. When I left, things were still screwed up.
Later, driving to
realityengineer's office with
tori04...
Me: I've noticed a lot of names here that just make me think... "Why?"
Mom: Like what?
Me: Rainbow... Miracle.... Magic............... turkey....
Mom: Huh... Turkey..
Me: TURKEYS! -points out window-
Mom: AH!
There are wild turkeys near the office. It's bizarre.
